Having 2 puppies and 2 kitties, is a lot like having 2 babies (twins), and 2 toddlers. The days are spent running like made from one to the other, full of pithy remarks like, “NNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! DON’T EAT THAT!!!” & “WAGH!!! NNNNNNNOOOOOO!!!!!!!! DON’T CHEW HIS TAIL!”
My ten year anniversary with my husband passed in a haze of kennel training, toilet training, and kitten teeth brushing. In fact, 3 days after the anniversary, we–bleary-eyed and sleep-deprived–looked at each other and said, “Whoa. Hey. Wasn’t our anniversary a few days ago?”
Though, I’m thrilled he’s still looking. Ten years is a long time to keep the hearth burning, but ours (I’m pleased to say) is still raging. And thank God. It’s so nice to have a husband who doesn’t mind cooking, thinks I look fabulous covered in dog/cat fur and smelling of puppy training treats (yee gods. A snack only your lupine child would love), and understands what I mean as I fall into bed saying, “I love y-zzzzzzzzzzz.”
I suppose that’s it for now.
Milo’s FINALLY fallen asleep (he hates the kennel…though I don’t know why. He plays in eat, naps in it, but good grief, close the door and it’s ALL OVER), and Murphy is snoozing in his. The kittens are helping Bear vacuum the basement, and I finally have a moment to wade through the pile of papers, cups, bottles, treats, toys, etc. littering my desk…
