Was watching a trailer for the new Alex Cross movie and Tyler Perry was playing the lead role…it reminded me of an interview I’d seen with him on Oprah. He talked about his first foray into the arts, how he’d sunk his life savings into a play, spent all his money and no one showed up (or I think it was 10 people in a 200 person auditorium).

He talked about being devastated, living in his car, feeling like a complete failure—so much so, he seriously contemplated suicide.  Perry didn’t kill himself. Instead he tried again and fast forwards 20 years or so, and he’s the lead role in multi-million dollar movie, owns an island…

It reminds me of something Calvin Coolidge said: “The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”
